In order to access the system you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have regular contact with children and young people as part of your job function
  • Be formally nominated by your agency or organisation
  • Obtain signed confirmation from your agency or organisation that they have previously requested and received an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) regarding your suitability to work with children and young people
  • Have read and agreed to uphold the 'SafetyNET Core principles for Users'

To begin this process you can download a copy of the Sheffield SafetyNET and Common Assessment Application Pack, this contains all the information you will require to start the process to gain access to the system.

If you would like more information on obtaining an Enhanced CRB disclosure then you may like to visit the CRB Disclosure web site at http://www.disclosure.gov.uk

SafetyNET has identified key individuals within various organisations who can check your current CRB status and support a new application if necessary. We have identified individuals in Education, the voluntary and community sector, Sheffield Homes and Social Services.

Child Protection On-Line Learning

Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board has signed up to an innovative way of child protection training via the website, aimed at all organisations who work with children.

An e-learning module and on-line assessment has been developed to provide a flexible delivery route for Basic Awareness of Child Protection and Safeguarding Children.
