Access to the Sheffield SafetyNET
system is now open to all children's services workers. SafetyNET
becomes more effective as more workers make use of it and
therefore we are encouraging all workers to sign up and get
involved. However, in order to protect children and young
people's privacy it is necessary to carefully select and
monitor
the individuals who are granted access.
In order to access the system you must
meet all of the following criteria:
| |
|
|
Have regular contact
with children and young people as part of your job function |
| |
 |
|
Be formally nominated by your agency
or organisation |
| |
|
|
Obtain signed confirmation from
your agency or organisation that they have previously
requested and received an Enhanced Disclosure from the
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) regarding your suitability
to work with children and young people |
| |
 |
|
Have read and agreed to uphold
the 'SafetyNET Core principles for Users' |
To begin this process you
can download a copy of the Sheffield SafetyNET and
Common Assessment Application Pack, this contains
all the information you will require to start the process
to gain access to the system.

If you would like more information on obtaining
an Enhanced CRB disclosure then you may like to visit the
CRB
Disclosure web site at http://www.disclosure.gov.uk
SafetyNET has identified key individuals
within various organisations who can check your current CRB
status and support a new application if necessary. We have
identified individuals in Education, the voluntary and community
sector, Sheffield Homes and Social Services.
Contact details can be found on out project
forum which will require you to register - click
