Des Charles - Programme Manager

Des is the Manager for the SafetyNET and CAF Programme. With a background in Social Work Des has a particular interest in ensuring that Common Assessment, Lead Professional and the workforce reform agenda are supported and promoted by SafetyNET. Des is working towards moving the current SafetyNET programme into mainstream practice across the City

Jayne Kerr - Professional Programme and Development Manager

Jayne is the Professional Programme and Development Manager (job-share with Rachel - see below) currently on secondment from Sheffield Futures (Connexions) where she was a senior careers guidance practitioner. She has, for many years, worked exclusively with vulnerable young people, in particular looked after children, young offenders and children with disabilities.

Rachel Reynolds - Professional Programme and Development Manager

Rachel is the Professional Programme and Development Manager (job-share with Jayne - see above) currently on secondment from Sheffield Futures (Connexions) where she works as a Senior Careers Guidance Practitioner. She worked for Nottinghamshire Careers Service for several years where she was involved in developing education-business links and placing teachers into industry. In recent years Rachel has worked in Sheffield with vulnerable young people including looked after children and care leavers, young offenders and children with disabilities.

Sharon Pagdin - Safeguarding Advisor for Early Years

Sharon joined the Integrated Practice Team in July 2007 as Safeguarding Advisor for Early Years. She previously worked for 4years as Deputy Programme Manager in a Shefield SureStart Programme, taking lead responsibility for implementing and reviewing safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures. Sharon's work in the past includes Heath Visiting in Rotherham and Sheffield and for 4years in the Jessop Wing as Liaison Health Visitor,where she formed part of a multi disciplinary safeguarding team, improving outcomes for unborn babies and vulnerable preganant women.
 
 

Jane Walker - Safeguarding Advisor for Early Years

Jane joined the team in 2004 with an aim to create a Child Protection training and advice service for the Early Years Service. The role has since evolved to incorporate Integrated Practice under the Safeguarding umbrella.
Jane has a background in working with vulnerable children in both the voluntary sector and within education as a learning mentor.
Jane is responsible for Safeguarding training, advice and support within early years settings.

 
 

Bea Kay - Integrated Practice Coordinator

Bea has a background in general social work, but in later years specialised in children and young people in need and child protection. Most recently Bea has worked with a multi-disciplinary staff group (Health, Housing, Leisure and Education) as a Learning Mentor with families who live in 'Interim Accommodation' (temporary housing).

 

Mary Garside - Integrated Practice Coordinator

Mary joined the team as an Coordinator in September 2006 with the aim to implement Integrated Practice across all agencies. With a background in health visiting Mary has worked with a range of communities in Sheffield and has recently had a role in developing and modernising health visiting in the city. With a particular interest in family health needs assessment she has also been involved in the development of health visiting records in Sheffield.

 
 

Flora Bandele - Safeguarding Advisor for Education

Flora is an ex-teacher who has also worked in Education Social Work. She has had several years experience of working with children and young people, many of whom have been either victims of abuse or abusers themselves, as well as working with their parents.  She also has experience in advising investigations into allegations against staff.  She is involved in various Safeguarding Children Board and Council Committees including those dealing with policies and procedures, child sexual exploitation and domestic abuse. She is an active member of the Safeguarding Children Board Multi – Agency training pool as well as being Safeguarding Children Service advisor and trainer for Education staff.

Ged Warren - Information & Data Manager

Ged joined the team in October 2006. He is responsible for liaising with the DCSF and overseeing our readiness deploy ContactPoint in 2009. He will also be working with all stakeholders to assess and improve data quality and ensure effective communication and training plans are in place to meet the stringent DCSF requirements. Ged has a background in the entertainment Industry and most recently worked as a senior manager at the Leadmill.

Steve Osborn - SafetyNET Operations Manager

Steve is the ICT Support Officer to SafetyNET. He has a background in technical support and web design and worked for many years supporting the development of ICT within schools for Kensington and Chelsea LEA.
